The Project Director is directly responsible for the oversight of programs and operations for the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant under the guidelines of the 21st CCLC grant mandated. The primary focus will be the coordination of programs development ad implementation as well as staff development. The Project Director will instruct educationally enriching activities, rejects, and programs of the 21st Century Community Learning Center program to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. In addition, the Project Director will be responsible for developing partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • ACTIVELY INTERACTS with students in activities, displaying enthusiasm for the learning process and program
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet state objectives and the needs interests of students. 
  • Initiate, develope and maintain positive mentoring relationships with youth. 
  • Hire staff and help recruit and negotiate community based organisations and volunteers for the program
  • Participate in ongoing staff professional development
  • attend staff meetings
  • Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance, participation, or other data as needed
  • ensure the reporting of student data and information from each center to meet grant reporting requirements to ensure that timelines will be met
  • Communicates behavioral expectations to students. Works with staff members to enforce student discipline procedures
  • Responsible for providing tutoring and/or enrichment programs. 
  • Supervise and coordinate all staff and volunteers at special events
  • Develope and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of the after-school programs, services, and activities within the community
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with organizational policies and procedures for all staff
  • Contributes to the effort to involve parents in their childs educational process.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program, with regard to the project objectives and outcomes
  • Monitor necessary supplies to conduct daily educational activities
  • Organize Family Nights
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles related to the development of youth between 11 and 18 years of age.
  • Knowledge of group leadership skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
  • Skill in organizing work for self and others
  • communicate effectively with leaders, youth, and families
  • Previous experience working and/or volunteering with youth or a youth serving organization preferred.
  • applicant must successfully pass a criminal background investigation
  • Responsible for student safety until students are released, using appropriate procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • College course work in education/youth issues, preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by management team and United States Department of Education.
